Overview

A start-up company focused on the discovery of advanced materials for clean energy technology applications, Wildcat Discovery Technologies, Inc. has developed high throughput synthesis and screening platforms for rapid evaluation and discovery of complex materials. Wildcat is investigating materials for lithium-ion battery electrodes, printable electronic inks, hydrogen storage and carbon capture.


Wildcat is a privately held company located in San Diego, CA which began operations in November 2006. The company founders and key employees bring extraordinary high throughput and bulk materials expertise:

  • Prof. Peter Schultz - Professor at The Scripps Research Institute; Former Institute Director for the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation; Founder of Symyx, Affymax, Syrrx, Kalypsys, Phenomix, Ambrx, Ilypsa

  • Robert Downs - Executive Director of Engineering: GNF; former Engineering Director at General Motor’s Saturn Division; Started GM’s first hybrid electric vehicle program.

  • Dr. Donald Murphy - Former Director of Applied Materials Research Department, Bell Laboratories

The company employs 30 scientists and engineers, has several engineering consultants with specialized experience in high throughput automation, and has a world class scientific advisory board.


Wildcat Discovery Technologies is engaged in the discovery and sale of specialty materials for clean tech energy applications. Utilizing combinatorial chemistry pioneered in the life sciences field, Wildcat has developed proprietary high throughput synthesis and testing platforms for the rapid exploration of new energy related materials. With multiple patents filed, the company's unique technology enables breakthrough discovery of novel materials that can be rapidly scaled from grams to kilograms.
